Acceptable-Use Policy
Effective 18 May 2026.
This Acceptable-Use Policy lists the items and conduct that are not permitted on Shamarrway. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service by reference. Violating this policy may result in suspension, account closure, forfeiture of the shipment, and referral to law enforcement.
1. Prohibited items
You may not ship through Shamarrway:
- Firearms, ammunition, gunpowder, explosives, fireworks, and parts thereof.
- Drugs (recreational), controlled substances, narcotics, and prescription medications other than properly documented personal-supply quantities.
- Live animals, birds, fish, insects, and reptiles.
- Human remains, ashes, organs, blood, and other biological material.
- Currency in cash, bullion, precious metals, loose gemstones, and bearer-instrument securities.
- Hazardous materials regulated by IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, including but not limited to lithium batteries outside permitted thresholds, flammable liquids, oxidisers, compressed gases, corrosives, and radioactive material.
- Pornography, especially any material involving minors. Any suspected child-exploitation material will be reported to the relevant authority.
- Counterfeit goods and items that infringe a third-party trademark, copyright, or design right.
- Endangered species, ivory, and products from species listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
- Stolen property.
- Goods prohibited by the laws of the origin or destination country, including items on the Nigerian Customs Service Absolute Prohibition List.
2. Restricted items
The items below may be shipped only with documentation and only if the relevant licence or permit is in place. Contact us before booking if your shipment includes any of them.
- Pharmaceuticals other than personal-supply quantities, including supplements making medical claims.
- Cosmetics and skincare in commercial quantities (Nigerian NAFDAC registration applies).
- Used vehicles, vehicle parts, and engines.
- Restricted electronics, including radio-frequency devices that operate on bands not permitted in Nigeria, certain drones, and surveillance equipment.
- Alcohol, tobacco, and other excisable goods.
- Foods that require regulatory clearance in the origin country (for example, items subject to FDA registration for export from the United States).
- Plants, seeds, and agricultural produce subject to phytosanitary control.
3. Prohibited conduct
You may not use the Services to:
- Under-declare value, mislabel contents, or otherwise misrepresent a shipment to customs.
- Move funds disguised as goods, layer commercial activity through personal accounts, or otherwise launder the proceeds of crime.
- Evade sanctions imposed by the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control, the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or Nigeria.
- Re-sell or sub-let your Shamarrway account to a third party.
- Interfere with the operation of the Services, including attempts to bypass authentication, scrape data at scale, or probe our infrastructure without prior authorisation.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate Shamarrway staff, drivers, or other customers.
4. What happens if you break this policy
Depending on the severity, we may:
- Refuse the shipment and return it to you at your cost.
- Hold the shipment pending investigation by customs or law enforcement.
- Dispose of the goods where doing so is lawful and the item cannot be returned safely.
- Suspend or terminate your account.
- Report the incident to the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Nigerian Customs Service, the Nigeria Police Force, or any other relevant authority.
- Forward identifying information about the sender and recipient to law enforcement.
Costs incurred in handling a prohibited or restricted shipment may be charged to your account. The shipping price paid is not refundable where the breach is on your side.
5. Reporting violations
If you believe a Shamarrway account or shipment is being used to break this policy, write to trust@shamarrway.com. A person responds within one business day. Reports are kept confidential where the law allows.
6. Updates
This policy is updated as carrier, customs, and regulatory requirements change. Material changes are announced in the dashboard. The current version is always at shamarrway.com/legal/aup.
